Dr. Samuel P. Dixon, III Returns to Organization Founded in Memory of His Father
In late 2015, the Samuel Dixon Family Health Center, Inc. (SDFHC) welcomed Dr. Samuel P. Dixon, III to the organization. Dr. Dixon has been volunteering his services as a medical provider at all SDFHC health centers but primarily at our original Val Verde location. With his support, SDFHC is able to continue on in the mission originally set forth by his father, the Reverend Samuel Dixon.
“Dr. Dixon has been a pleasure to be around and to hear stories of his father, growing up in Val Verde, and the history of our community,” said Philip Solomon, Chief Executive Officer for the organization. “Patients I have run into speak very highly of Dr. Dixon, some having known the Dixon family for many years. We are all very honored to work for an organization that was inspired by his father, the late Reverend Dixon, and continue to support those most in need and to give back to our community.”
One of the best things, according to Dr. Dixon, is to be able to “come home” to Val Verde and spend the majority of his time with SDFHC patients, where it all started. His father began the health center in Val Verde in his church, and Dr. Dixon noted the growth in the community since that time, all the while maintaining the feel of home. He enjoys the idea of coming to provide necessary care to the residents of Val Verde. Returning, Dr. Dixon feels it gives him more insight and empathy to what is happening in the lives of the families he has known over the years. There’s more of an understanding about what they may be going through and possible struggles of the still rural area. SDFHC couldn’t be more pleased to be working alongside the Dixon family once more.
“I am excited that Dr. Dixon is working with our organization,” said Dr. Olfus, Chief Medical Officer for SDFHC. “This is his father’s legacy, and it is only fitting that he be a part of it. I welcome him and hope he will remain an active presence indefinitely.”
The connection with the family and organization’s history only strengthens the mission, as the work in local Santa Clarita communities continues.
