Soroptimist of GSCV Donates $61,000 to Non-profits
Eighteen non-profits joined Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley at a recent monthly luncheon to accept their share of $61,000 in donations from the women-centered organization.
“All year long, we raise funds through various fundraisers and events,” said SIGSCV President Rebecca Johnston. “And once a year, we get to give it away to organizations that support our mission: to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.”
Organizations that received funds included: the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Women’s Unit; Carousel Ranch; Child & Family Center; Circle of Hope; College of the Canyons Center for Early Childhood Education; College of the Canyons Scholarships; Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita Valley; HIUKIC Robotics, Inc.; Journey Out; Larc Ranch; Maryvale; Mending Kids; Mothers Fighting For Others; The Youth Project; Single Mothers Outreach; Tirza International; and Soroptimist International of the Americas.
“We’re looking to lift people up by giving them the programs and skill sets they need to lead successful, happy, empowered lives,” Rebecca said.
