Santa Clarita Valley Alzheimer’s Awareness Project
A group of Santa Clarita community members and local business owners including Abi Caruthers of L.O.V.E Weight Loss, Doug Sutton of The Santa Clarita Gazette and Nola Aronson of Advanced Audiology have formed a new organization called The Santa Clarita Valley Alzheimer’s Awareness Project. Their mission is to “work as a group advocating for community awareness of Alzheimer’s Disease, it’s warning signs, symptoms and risk reduction”. It is a conduit of information relating to care, services, education, support groups and treatment.
The SCVAAP will work with organizations such as The Alzheimer’s Association and Alzheimer’s Greater Los Angeles to dispense any information that is helpful to patients, their families and friends. Local senior housing facilities, physicians and senior caregiving companies are encouraged to contact us for information.
Several events including an Alzheimer’s related movie screening with the date TBD, a flash mob planned for June 2016 and others are being organized. And the Santa Clarita Alzheimer’s Awareness Project will participate and support the upcoming Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s on October 8th, 2016 and the Alzheimer’s Greater Los Angeles Walk4Alz on September 17, 2016.
Member representatives are available for interviews and speaking engagements.
