The Canyon Theatre Guild Presents a Love Letter to Musical Theatre and an Eye-Popping, Rollicking Voyage Around the World!
The Canyon Theatre Guild is proud to present The Drowsy Chaperone on the main stage. Winner of five Tony Awards when it hit Broadway in 2006, this show is for people who both love and hate the American musicals of the Jazz Age. The show’s narrator, a mousy, agoraphobic Broadway fanatic seeking a cure for the blues, listens to a recording of an obscure 1928 musical comedy, The Drowsy Chaperone. As he listens to this rare recording, he and the audience are transported into the musical. As the characters appear, both the narrator and the audience are taken on a 90-minute roller coaster ride of song, dance and laughter. Performances are Fridays, 8 p.m. on September 23, October 21 & 28, Saturdays, 2 p.m. on October 8 & 22, Saturdays at 8 p.m. on September 24, October 1, 15 and 29, Sundays at 2 p.m. on October 2, 16 and 23.
And on the CTG Family Theatre Stage – Stampeding elephants! Raging typhoons! Runaway trains! Hold onto your seats for the original amazing race, Around the World in 80 Days! Join fearless adventurer Phileas Fogg and his faithful manservant as they race to beat the clock! Phileas Fogg has agreed to an outrageous wager that puts his fortune and his life at risk. With his resourceful servant Passepartout, Fogg sets out to circle the globe in an unheard-of 80 days. But his every step is dogged by a detective who thinks he’s a robber on the run. Danger, romance, and comic surprises abound in this whirlwind of a show as five actors portraying 39 characters traverse seven continents in Mark Brown’s adaptation of one of the great adventures of all time. Performances are Friday, October 14 at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 2 p.m. on September 24, October 1, 15 and 29, Saturdays at 8 p.m. on October 8 and 22 as well as Sundays at 2 p.m. on September 25 and October 9 and Sunday at 6 p.m. on October 23 and October 30.
Call the Canyon Theatre Guild Box Office for tickets and for more information on both great shows.
