Nude Makeup is always in
Nude, naked, neutral, bare—it’s everywhere. Why? I think it’s because naked makeup makes us look like a better version of who we are. Nudes are comfort makeup, sort of like eating carbs. They’re quick, easy, and make us feel good in our own skin. Depending on how you select colors and apply them, nudes can be sophisticated, sexy or just plain blah!
Check out your nude appeal.
Do you look washed out?
Nudes need contrast. Work with light and dark colors to define your features. Use a neutral bronzer to contour forehead, chin, and under cheekbones. Apply 2 coats of volumizing mascara to emphasize eyes. Groom your brows and make sure they look full, feathery, and shapely.
Do your nudes make you look tired?
A common faux pas is to select nude colors that don’t work with your natural skin tone. This will bring you down and make you look old at any age. Cool, pink based skin looks best in gray browns, pinked beiges, and clear ivories with no redness or warmth. Warm, yellow based skin looks best in golden, peachy bronzes and brick toned browns.
Does your makeup disappear by the end of the day?
The trick is to have your makeup meld with your skin yet not fade away. To avoid frequent touchups, use primer under makeup. Apply foundation with a brush to keep it sheer and get into those hard to reach areas. Pat a bit more foundation on redness, dark spots, and blemishes. Control unwanted shine with an invisible setting powder in the T-zone.
Do you glow or no?
Gotta have the glow, girls. Go for creamy, liquid foundations instead of dull, matte powders. Cream blushes are a must because they meld with skin and create a lit from within flush. Rosy browns, pinky beiges and peachy bronzes add just a hint of color to make skin vibrant. Finish your look with a soft, nude lipstick or sparkling gloss.
Do you look like a better version of you?
Voila! You’ve got it.
