Why is Micropigmentation Different from Tattooing?
Micropigmentation (a.k.a. semi-permanent make-up or dermal-pigmentation) is a process whereby completely natural inorganic pigments are implanted beneath the epidermis into the dermal layer by microneedle insertion. It is a type of more natural and realistic cosmetic tattooing to save the expense and daily routine of makeup application. It is a state-of-the-art technique of applying long lasting makeup via intradermal micropigmentation.
Micropigmentation is done in two or even three sessions. Initially a sketch is done with regular make-up once the shape and color will be defined and the client will have a close idea about the final appearance. The touch up is done 30 days after to enhance the color and give a perfect finish. Sometimes, a second touch up is required just for bold eyeliners or darker eyebrows. Micropigmentation procedures are much more tolerable than tattoo. A numbing cream is generously applied 15 to 30 minutes before the procedure and is reapplied to avoid any uncomfortable pain.
Too light, sparse, or non-existent eyebrows can be beautifully enhanced and improved with micropigmentation. Eyebrows are important as a frame of your face and when the eyebrows are fuller and extended, you get a more youthful appearance. You can go swimming, play tennis or wipe your face without the embarrassment of losing your eyebrows. Also, great for alopecia and cancer patients.
You can get facials two weeks after your initial procedure. You cannot get facial peels or waxed over your new permanent makeup till it is healed. Retin-A will peel layers of skin and can fade your pigment significantly. Waxing can fade the pigment in your skin as well. Your technician or esthetician will have to take special care in applying a facial or wax around your brows.
The healing will take about four to seven days. Pigment will dry as a scab and lighten about 45 to 55 percent. Thirty-days after your first appointment we schedule a refresher appointment. Two new layers of skin will heal over your new makeup and may cause the pigment to look a little spotty. We refresh the color to make sure it looks its best and your need for future touch-ups is kept to a minimum.
Keep your permanent make-up always protected with sunscreen and avoid anti-aging creams close to the pigmented area. Most of them have AHA acids and will make your color go away faster. Keep in mind these tips and enjoy!
