Are You Classic or Volume?
Classic Eyelash Extensions
The Classic style, so called 1:1 or individual lash extensions is accomplished by applying ONE silk or mink lash to ONE natural lash. If you have 80 natural lashes, only 80 lash extensions can be applied with this technique. This style is not effective for those with thin/few natural lashes.
Russian Volume
The Russian or Magic Volume style is accomplished by applying pre-made multiple lash extensions (two to six extension hairs per 1 natural lash) to ONE natural lash. Even though you have few/thin lashes, double, triple, or up to sextuple amount (2D ~ 6D) of eyelash extensions can be applied with this technique. Russian Volume lash extensions are extremely thin, so the weight of this technique is often less than or equal to the weight of a Classic eyelash extension. This is why Russian Volume can be worn by anyone, including those with severely thin natural lashes. However, this technique requires more financial investment for clients since a specific certification, many months of practice, and very specific adhesives & lash types are required.
Lash Lift vs. Lift Perm
If you are looking for a low maintenance, cost effective, time saving alternative to eyelash extensions, lash lift or lash perm would be a great, affordable option. Results last anywhere between 2-4 weeks depending on how resistant your lashes are.
It adds a curl to straight lashes, giving you the appearance of more glamorous lashes. It is great for those with relatively straight lashes, with no need to use lash curlers every day. If you add a lash tint after the procedure, you could get pretty similar results to natural-look lash extensions.
There is a bit of confusion around the difference between a lash lift and a lash perm but essentially, they are exactly the same treatment with the same results, the same products, the same amount of procession time and the same cost.
The only difference between those treatments is the rods used to curl the lashes. Perm rods are traditional cylinder-shaped and add a definite curl to the lash, creating a C-shaped lash. Whereas, lift rods are flat on one side and curved on the other, which helps to ‘lift’ the lash from the base of the eyelid, and adds a more subtle curl.
