My Big Toe Hurts
Recently several patients sought out my professional opinion regarding pain in their great toe joint. They all stated they had not injured their foot recently or that they could remember, but it really hurt. In questioning them they had no family or personal history of gout or arthritis. They also had not done anything different or unusual. After performing a thorough examination and taking standard x-rays several things stood out. There was some joint inflammation. There was swelling and there were some joint and cartilage changes present. After careful review and discussion diagnoses were made and a treatment plan formulated. Treatments were suggested of; non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, root functional orthotics, physical therapy, corticosteroid injections, non-traditional medicine and surgery if these failed to provide enough relief. The patient’s seemed happy to have come in and sought advice and now were on the mend, and were able to get back to their busy lives. So if your feet are bothersome, have difficulty walking or they just plain hurt, bring your feet in for an evaluation and we will be happy to help you too be back to normal and back to doing what you need and want to do. Thanks for listening and have a great August.
