Celebrity Sightings – June 2017
Known as Hollywood’s backlot, Santa Clarita is no stranger to celebrities or running into them around town. Jersey Mike’s employee Ryan Handy was happy to snap a quick photo with 13 Reasons Why star, Dylan Minnette, when he came into the store. Minnette portrays Clay Jensen, a high school student who finds a box on his doorstep containing clues to why a classmate of his named Hannah took her own life. The Netflix original American drama has gained much press for the controversial topic, which is told through Clay and Hannah’s dual narrative. It’s a deeply relevant and honest look at what obstacles our youth face in society today. It has already sparked the conversation locally on Facebook and I hope in homes as well. Knowledge is power and compassion is strength.
No stranger to dark or controversial topics, British comedian Jimmy Carr was kind enough to snap a photo with local business owners and residents Alan and Rachel Cosgrove. The pair are the owners of Results Fitness, as well as published fitness experts in just about every fitness magazine on the market. Along with their staff, the team at Results have been published in 12 international best-selling fitness books.
Santa Clarita resident Kevin Woods was enjoying the day at Six Flags Magic Mountain with his daughter when they ran into none other than Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard, Jordan Clarkson. Clarkson was spotted at Magic Mountain with actress Bella Thorne, arriving together in the Lakers star’s Lamborghini. Sports fans have watched Clarkson from his college days with Tulsa and Missouri, then forgoing his senior year to enter the NBA draft in 2014.
Actor Nolan Gould was spotted by resident Kaitlin Bartone at Buffalo Wild Wings in Canyon Country. The Modern Family star has played character Luke Dunphy since the pilot episode more than eight seasons ago. Fans of the show have watched Nolan’s character grow from a goofy little brother to a quirky yet reliable member of the Dunphy family. Modern Family is currently in the 8th season and new episodes air on Wednesday nights via ABC7.
Speaking of funny and quirky, actor/comedian Tom Arnold was kind enough to smile for Dr. Justin Heller when he noticed the star out and about. Tom Arnold is most notably known for his role along-side fellow actor Arnold Schwarzenegger in True Lies (1994), earning a nomination for the MTV Movie Award for Best Comedic Performance. With many projects in post-production, Arnold also plays Elvis Bertrand on NCIS: New Orleans.
