Tips to Living a Healthier Longer Life
Eat an Apple a Day – The pectin fiber in apples has been proven to reduce cholesterol in the blood and is one the best ways to remove heavy metals from your intestine. Pears and plums are also a good source of pectin fiber.
Give Blood – Blood donation is beneficial in reducing risk of heart and liver ailments caused by iron overload in the body. By donating blood the iron stores in the body are maintained at healthy levels. A reduction in the iron level in the body is linked with low cancer risk.
Keep Good Oral Hygiene – Poor health inside of your mouth can lead to a host of issues including heart disease.
Maintain Activities That Make You Happy – Stress is a killer (literally). To alleviate stress, it is best to remove yourself from stressful environments so you can “re charge” while your stress melts away. Find activities and environments that bring you joy, calmness and peace.
Challenge Your Body and Your Mind – Use it or lose it. As is true with the Japanese I studied 20 years ago and remember none of now. If, you stop problem solving, your ability to solve problems will decrease. If you are not challenging your body, you can expect to fail when facing physical challenges.
Get Sunshine – Allow yourself 15 to 25 minutes of Sunshine per day and it will increase your Vitamin D, which will increase your Immune System. Studies show that sunshine may protect against osteoporosis, heart disease, cancers of the breast, prostate, and colon. Sunlight has reduced depression and insomnia.
Have a Purpose in life – Many elderly widows do not fare well after losing their spouse. Perhaps, they lost their purpose. Purpose drives us to live and be well. Having a family may not be a strong enough purpose. Make a specific goal for your family, for others, or for yourself!
At Ignition Fitness we have the words “Mind, Body & Soul” because we believe health is not one dimensional. What’s good is to look great and feel bad or vice versa. We focus on our clients as individuals and take on their goals as our goals. That’s just who we are and what we do.
