Kindness and the Lightness of Letting Go

 “What the world needs now is love, sweet love…”
Two major things came up for me when I was thinking what I wanted to write about this month. The first is that being kind is something the world could use in a big way. Kindness begins within ourselves. Kindness radiates out, and can literally change an entire room of people. So often throughout the day, I hear so much negativity. What if we decided that the first thing we did before getting out of bed, is think of all the things we are thankful for, and make an effort to be kind to those that cross our path. The kindness we first need to extend is to ourselves. What are we saying and thinking about ourselves? If we take a moment and position ourselves in a loving light, the kindness just flows. It is organic, it is effortless. And it’s amazing!
The other thing I know I have had to really look at in my life, is letting the past be the past. Of course, this is easier said than done. Just when you think you have conquered a certain aspect of your life, undoubtedly it will come up again, to show you where you are in your path. All one can do when the past comes up, is to breath, and adjust your thinking. Sometimes just seeing where we are on the road of forgiveness, or healing, is what is needed to continue to do the inner work, in order to get us to a higher plane. The inner work pays off!
