Uncover the Hidden Power Within You
This week we read the story of Queen Esther – a biblical heroine who lived over 2000 years ago in Persia. Esther had to master the courage to face her husband King Ahesuerus, change his mind that was set to destroy her along with her people because they were different. Fighting to do the right thing is never easy. Esther was put to the test, discovered her inner strength, averted the decree and changed history forever.
A few other powerful women come to mind. Rebecca the matriarch who also did what was right for her people. She switched the birthright blessing to Jacob whom she knew would make a better leader of his people. Emma Lazar stood for compassion. Rosa Parks taught us about strength and courage. Emilia Earhart let her dreams soar and take flight. All these women changed our history and made a difference in our lives. We too encompass the same characteristics of integrity and strength but they are hidden deep inside us.
Forty years ago I stood at a crossroad of my life. I had to make a decision, leave my past and homeland behind me and start a future in a whole new land. I had to have a vision of what was ahead for me and do what was right for me. Yes, it was challenging but not impossible.
For each of us the list of challenges and goals is different. Do you let your difficult circumstances weaken your spirit? What vision and dreams do you still have to follow and fulfill? Can you tap deep to uncover the power within you? Challenges are there to teach us about the inner strength we never knew we had. Remember we are exactly where we’re supposed to be. Like Esther perhaps you were put in this position to discover your true self, find your voice and do what’s right for you and others. Inside of you there is a hidden hero that can change your world for the better. Go find it!
