Unchain your Limitations to Reclaim Abundance
I’m sure you’ve heard about the holiday of Passover that we are celebrating these days. It’s the story of the Jewish people in ancient Egypt who were delivered from bondage into freedom about 3,300 years ago. It is tradition to retell it year after year as we read it from the Hagadda.
What do we learn from the story of Passover on a spiritual level? The word Mitzrayim (Egypt) has the same meaning in Hebrew as the word Meitzarim (limitation). Each of us has limitations that we have to deal with. We need to metaphorically break the chains of bondage from our limitations to claim our emancipation.
For some, it might be not having the courage to try something new or take actions when needed. Sometimes we remain inactive and passive just waiting for “miracles” to happen. Some of us are ruled by fear or self doubt, not recognizing our talents, capabilities and achievement. Some are slaves to the almighty dollar, not able to find a good balance between work and fun.
During the eight days of Passover, we avoid eating leavened bread (chametz). We cleanse and get remove it from our homes. The yeast that makes the dough rise symbolizes our inflated egos. Our big ego may get in the way and prevents us from allowing the good energy to flow easily into our lives. A person with a big ego does not leave room for anyone or anything else, thus missing on the abundance of joy that life has to offer.
Passover is the time for housecleaning, a little spring cleansing for the soul too. We still know the difference between recognizing our greatness, yet remaining humble. Eating a flat matzah reminds us of that humbleness and humility in spite of recognizing who we are. Always try to do and be your best. Do your spiritual cleansing periodically and remind yourself of your goals and your achievements. You’ll be surprised at the abundance of blessings and joy that will flow your way. Make this year a year of cleansing from old thoughts and self-imposed limitations, breaking free from bad habits or anything that does not allow you to be your best self. Reclaim your freedom and enjoy the flow.
