Possibilities, Potentials, and Opportunities
When I think of the word possibilities, I think of all things possible in the universe for a given situation.
When I think of the word potentials, I think of all that I am currently capable of or can become capable of.
When I think of the word opportunities, I think of all of the choices available to me at this time or in the future.
The three together help me to define the direction I am going, could be going, or just thinking about.
As I start to look deeper into each, I can organize my thoughts, set goals, establish strategies and take action to position myself to maximize those things important to me.
This is helpful with all things in life. As a CPA, my professional focus is on those things financial. This includes management of careers, business options, personal finance, and retirement choices. It can be as simple as a decision you need to make today or a series of complicated strategic steps to maximize a financial outcome. The time it takes can be short or it can take weeks, months, or even years.
Each of us has a different perspective as to what is important. Recognizing that we are each different, helps you to determine the possibilities, potentials and opportunities, that are important to you.
Part of what I do as a CPA, is to point out opportunities that may not be apparent to my clients. At other times my clients bring their opportunities to me for further review and analysis. We then look at both the opportunity and alternatives (possibilities and potentials) to find the sweet spot for my clients.
