Two Local Wineries Join Forces to Bring “A Bit of Wine Country” to Old Town Newhall
Experience the Burgeoning Micro-Winery Movement – The two wineries exemplify California’s exploding micro-winery (aka “Garagiste”) movement. Both source world-class grapes from top vineyards in Paso Robles, Santa Barbara County, and Sonoma, and meticulously handcraft small batches of high-scoring wines at their shared winery facility in Santa Clarita, then pour them for customers in their tasting room on Main Street.
No Supermarket Wines – “These are not mass-produced supermarket wines,” says Scott Page-Pagter of Pagter Brothers. “These are truly hand-made, artisan wines – and you can taste the quality.”
A Wide Range of Wine Choices – Between the two wineries there are often more than 15 different wines from which to choose, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, as well as blends and single-vineyard Syrahs from some of California’s most coveted vineyards.
Bring Food or Order In – The spacious, airy room and large comfortable back patio area make it a perfect place to relax and bring your own picnic, cheese, or to order food from the many menus on hand from neighborhood restaurants and visiting food trucks. Private events are welcome, too.
No Snobs Allowed – Our unofficial motto is ‘No snobs allowed,’ says Doug Minnick, one of three co-owners/winemakers at Hoi Polloi, along with Ted Behlendorf and Dan Erland Andersen. “We set out to create a fun, friendly, comfortable place to hang out and have a glass or a bottle. And we enjoy talking wine with people at any stage of their wine journey – from beginners to aficionados. It’s not your typical tasting room.”
Save Some Gas! – Relax with some excellent wine, but without the long drive up the coast. Save some gas and head down to the Double Trouble Wine Room in Old Town Newhall instead!
Flights of four wines are $10. Wine club members receive free flights, discounts, limited–release wines, and special parties.
The Double Trouble Wine Room, Featuring the wines of Pagter Brothers Winery and Hoi Polloi Winery, is located at 24338 Main Street in Old Town Newhall. For more information, please call 661-476-5627.
