Monday Morning Warriors!
What? There are Warriors on Main Street? Yes, a friendly tribe of women, aka members, who attack the mountain of donations each Monday morning at the Assistance League Resale Shop.
I work on Saturdays, when most of our community members have a day off to go through their closets or reorganize cabinets and decide what they want to keep and what they would like to donate to our worthy cause. I enter through the back door and easily walk to the front counter. In just a few hours, when my shift is over, I have to wiggle my way out! So, how do these boxes and bags containing a wide variety of new or gently used housewares, toys, shoes, and clothes become collections on our floor?
The answer; Monday Morning Warriors! Our volunteers open each bag and box to examine, sort and group our newly acquired treasures. I am amazed how they can take a random group of items and create collections! This requires talent and many hours! Their labor of love transforms our resale shop into a trendy, funky boutique! Not only do I admire their talent, I also appreciate their hours of dedicated love that is displayed on each shelf and rack.
This dedicated love is for our community. Our resale shop has hidden treasures that are priced to benefit our customers and 100 percent of the surplus goes right back to assist our families in the Santa Clarita Valley.
It may take a village to raise a child, but it takes a tribe of warriors to run a resale shop! Is there is a warrior in you? Visit our shop and find out!
