Planting Seeds of Love
This month, in the Jewish calendar, we celebrate Tu bishvat- the holiday of the trees. Trees are a metaphor for life. Much like them, we go through the renewal cycle; constantly shedding old leaves and growing new ones. As in nature where no two trees are alike; each of us is unique in the way we’re authentic to our values and purpose. As each seed holds the hidden potential of its own tree, we too choose what to implant in our own lives for our personal growth. Naturally, it’s a process we can’t hurry. It takes time to prepare the soil, remove the weeds, plant the seeds, nourish the soil by giving it the proper environment, the right amount of air, light and water to let it grow to its full potential. Similarly, we always prepare our mind and soul with new intentions for what we desire. We get rid of old patterns and negativity and we plant seeds of love and nourishment into all the important relationships in our lives, (our soul mates, parents, children, employees, employers or our friends). Sometimes we start new relationships, injecting new energy to our lives.
A tree adapts to its surrounding in extreme winds and hot or cold weather. We must invest in and cultivate our relationships in spite of challenges; stay grounded and not give up. We grow from our challenges as well.
The poet Khalil Gibran said, “Trees are poems that the earth writes upon the sky”. Be the poet of your life. It begins with self-love; only then, you can love others. Find balance between work and play. Nurture your body and spirit. Surround yourself with supportive people and watch your life grow and blossom with abundance of love, joy, health and prosperity. We become what we desire. We reap what we sow. The hard work is worth it as we only get one chance to live this life.
