The Grand Finale Class Survival of the Fittest is all about heart and hustle!
I met Survival of the Fittest owner James O’Rourke just a little over three years ago and in that time have come to have a deep respect and adoration for the hard-working entrepreneur. I am also very proud to call him a friend.
I was fortunate to catch a Saturday class with James at SOF. On Saturdays they have their Grand Finale class which is the hardest class of the week. He had my heart pumping and my body sweating for an extremely fun and challenging 75-minute workout!
After class, I had the opportunity to chat with James about what’s new at SOF.
SCM: I know you’re an individual who is constantly evolving and working to be more efficient. How do you apply those models in your business and how does that benefit your clients?
JO: We are always focused on improvement and growth at SOF. I don’t ever want to be stagnant. We are also always looking to improve our clients’ experience. I’m a self-taught business owner so I’m figuring this out as I go but the goal is always to be a little bit better than we were yesterday!
SCM: Do you have set workouts, or circuits, like a playbook that you have finessed over the years, or are you always changing it up to stay modern?
JO: Yes, we’ve developed a very unique training style over the years. We incorporate functional bodybuilding and good old-fashioned cross training into all of our workouts. The workouts are always changing because variety is the key to getting results and not to mention keeping our clients from getting bored!
SCM: With so many fitness programs in Santa Clarita what would you say sets SOF apart from the competition?
JO: I could mention a long list of things like our highly effective diets, our limited class sizes, our proprietary fitness ranking system or our highly qualified industry leading trainers but at the end of the day what really sets SOF apart is that WE CARE! We really do care about whether or not our clients get results and if they have a great experience. We go above and beyond to make sure our clients are healthy and happy! The fitness industry isn’t known for having the best customer service and we are on a mission to change that perception here at SOF!
