NCIS A Class Act!
I simply must share this experience! In support of our local senior center, I purchased an auction item at this year’s Celebrity Waiter Dinner for a set visit to the locally filmed television show NCIS, donated by their Locations Department, as they have filmed many times at our senior center. I was a bit skeptical at first, with my prior life in the entertainment industry, of how this “set visit” would be handled, but knew it would be something my daughter would enjoy so I took the risk. Let me just cut to the chase…never have I met a cast and crew that was more gracious, welcoming, and made the effort to make this set visit an experience! We were not on the set more than 90 seconds before Mark Harmon (Gibbs) came up to us and introduced himself and welcomed us, and stayed and chatted until he was called to film. Within the first 30 minutes, the rest of the cast on set that day, Emily Wickersham (Bishop), Sean Murray (McGee), and Wilmer Valderrama (Torrez) also went out of their way to come up and welcome us and introduce themselves. The sound department noticed us and came and gave us headsets so we could better hear the dialogue during filming! After 16 years, Mark Harmon told us it was like a family on set and boy was it. Even down to dogs on set that belonged to crew members. While being given a tour of the set and lot by our host for the day, Justin Maradiegue, we stumbled onto a fellow and he stopped what he was doing, welcomed us, and spent some time chatting. I was told later that he was Steven Binder, head writer and “Show Runner” (Head Honcho!). So, I don’t know if anyone involved with NCIS will see this, but thank you for an amazing day, putting a smile on my daughter’s face, and for being such warm, kind and welcoming hosts! And thank you for supporting our community!
If while supporting one of your favorite non-profits, and you see an auction item for a set visit donated by NCIS… Jump on it!!
