Get Your Skin Ready for Summer
Each season brings specific challenges to the skin on our face and body. Changes in temperature along with environmental factors can play havoc on an otherwise normal, healthy epidermis. Don’t assume that your winter regimen will get you through the summer months looking your best. Your skin has different needs at different times of the year.
Summer skin may tend to be more oily than usual and experience frequent breakouts. Higher temperatures increase your rate of perspiration and, as you perspire more, the oil builds up at a quicker pace. Your skin care routine and the products that you use should be evaluated carefully before the season starts.
If you have oily skin to begin with then you will definitely need to use a cleanser made for oily skin. If accompanied by breakouts, you will also need to use products containing benzoyl peroxide to help for their antibacterial properties. Periodic use of sulfur based masks can also be very beneficial. Remember to use oil free moisturizers and keep them as lightweight as possible.
Normal to dry skin may actually feel better in summer due to additional humidity in the atmosphere. Don’t be fooled into thinking that you don’t need to exfoliate or hydrate during these times. Again, lightweight moisturizer is in order for these skin types and a good exfoliator will assure that your skin remains glowing all summer long.
The best insurance for healthy skin at any time of the year is to seek the advice of a skin care professional. Client consultations are usually complimentary and you will learn the latest and best techniques for taking care of your skin.
Whatever skin type you have, don’t forget the sunscreen. This is one of the most important products to use year-round.
