Meet the New Dentist Dr. Brandon Villar
What makes up dentistry is spelled out in its name: D-doctor, EN – engineering and TIST- artist. Each phrase plays an equal role that makes up the patient experience. When you visit Dr. Alexander Villar’s Family Practice you are treated just as that, family. From start to finish, the friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere and dedication to the patient experience has made this dental practice one of the best in the Santa Clarita Valley. Recently, his son Brandon Villar has joined the practice as its newest dentist.
Graduating from Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health, he went on to work for other dental practices to obtain a variety of experiences that showed him just how special his father’s practice has become. “I enjoyed working other places and saw how amazing my father’s office really was. His passion dentistry and how he applies that to his work is like no other office I have been in,” commented Brandon. Growing up Brandon excelled at math and science and it wasn’t until 5th grade that he discovered he wanted to pursue dentistry. “My father came to a career day and when I watched him speak about his work with such passion and excitement I thought ‘one day I want to feel like that about something’ so as I got older I began shadowing my father and other dentists in various specialties and aligned my goals with what my dad does. He has been a good mentor and inspiration,” Brandon stated.
Brandon can be described as a perfectionist who shares this same passion and easy going when it comes to his patients wants. “I always strive for excellence to help my patients obtain the best possible care I can provide them. When it comes to them [my patients] I want them to feel heard and as an equal part in the decision-making process, “Brandon continued. Brandon can also be described as a very curious person. “For me, studying dentistry, learning about it, and practicing it never really felt like work, I always like being in class and growing my knowledge of dentistry, “Brandon recalled.
Brandon can also be described as a humanitarian. While at San Diego State University, Brandon volunteered for Best Buddies, the world’s largest organization to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and SDSU Flying Samaritans, an organization providing health care services to underserved communities of Tijuana, Mexico. While volunteering for Flying Samaritans, Brandon helped establish the first student-run free dental clinic to provide dental care to this underserved community. His humanitarian work did not stop there. While in dental school, he helped provide oral health care education and care to thousands of mothers, children, and underserved people by volunteering for the Special Olympics, Arizona Mission of Mercy, Give Kids a Smile, and working in five community health centers for his externships.
