Dear Neighbors,
My name is Christy Smith, and I’m running to serve you and represent California’s 25th Congressional District in Washington. I’ve lived in Santa Clarita for nearly 40 years, having attended our local public schools and College of the Canyons, worked and raised my family in this community.
Growing up in a home where we lived paycheck to paycheck, I know what it’s like for families who can’t pay the bills, afford health care, or give their kids the best education. I learned the value of hard work and resilience, working three jobs to pay my way through college and later graduate from UCLA.
During difficult times such as the global pandemic we’re living through, we need leaders who have the grit and determination to deliver for our community. I will be a steadfast fighter for families, seniors and workers while serving you in Congress.
In moments of crisis, it’s not time for politics as usual. We need leaders who are willing to work with anyone regardless of party to get the job done. That’s what I’ve done as a nonprofit leader, education advocate and State Assemblywoman. It’s why I am proud to be supported by small business owners, healthcare professionals, and classroom teachers in this campaign, who have seen my long record of public service and ability to shepherd resources back to the community, such as funding for the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center.
In Congress, I will hit the ground running to address these critical issues and top priorities for our community:
– Rebuilding our economy and growing good-paying jobs close to home;
– Lowering prescription drug costs and expanding access to affordable healthcare;
– Protecting and expanding Social Security and Medicare so our seniors can retire with dignity;
– Fully funding the United States Postal Service;
– Fighting for equal pay for women and paid family leave; and
– Getting our veterans and seniors the benefits they’ve earned.
For real progress, we need politicians who won’t take bribes from corporate PACs and special interests. I don’t take a penny from them. We deserve a Congresswoman who puts people first and politics last.
I would be honored to earn your vote.
