Remembering Limerick Avenue Elementary
Owen, Patterson & Owen is a personal injury law firm located in the heart of Valencia, on Valencia Boulevard across from the Sheriff’s Department and the Public Library. Even more important this month, it is located across the street from one of the several ballot boxes where Santa Clarita’s residents may drop their ballots for the November 3rd election.
As attorneys at OPO, we fight for our clients’ rights, sometimes in the halls of justice also known as courtrooms, and more recently, sometimes over zoom conferences. Justice doesn’t always look the same to everyone. Individual rights and justice loom large in the coming election. We will not tell you which way to vote in this article, in any blog, or on our website. But it is critical to be informed, and it is absolutely necessary to pay attention to the source of your information. When we go to court, we must get our facts right. Without true facts, we will lose. The same is true when you cast your ballot.
I remember walking into the auditorium of Limerick Avenue Elementary School in Canoga Park with my parents as a young adult to vote for the very first time. I was nervous. I was playing a role in history. Standing in the voting booth alone, I was taking action toward my future and the future of the nation. Before that day, the last time I had been at Limerick was my 6th grade graduation.
To this day, when my children or their friends talk about voting, I talk about that day, decades ago, and the huge impact it had on me. If we are a citizen of the United States, we have a duty to play our role in shaping the future for ourselves and our country. We are required to care, we are required to do our research, and we are required to vote.
You may find out information about the candidates and the propositions on the ballot by checking https://voterguide.sos.ca.gov/ and where to deposit your ballot by checking LAVote.net. For your legal needs, please contact OPO at 661-799-3899 or info@owenpatterson.com.
