We are Thankful for You Owen, Patterson & Owen
There is finally a chill in the air in the mornings. We turned our clocks back the weekend of Halloween, a true sign that summer was gone and the holidays would soon be upon us. In the past, Daylight Savings was a day of happiness. Not only did we get an extra hour of sleep, Daylight Savings signified that Thanksgiving, my favorite holiday, was almost here, and my children would come from across town and across the country to gather in our kitchen for talking, cooking, laughing, and lots of eating. It has always been such a lighthearted time of year in our family when we are all together.
This year feels different. At Owen, Patterson & Owen, our lawyers and staff are still working hard on personal injury cases every day and sometimes into the night, so we all needed that extra hour of sleep on November 1st. But this year, there is no lightheartedness. The feelings are deep.
While we worry about the risk of increasing numbers of Covid cases around the holidays as people gather to celebrate, the overwhelming sense I have is one of community. This has been a stressful year in so many ways—the pandemic and the election alone are overwhelming—yet this community has stayed in harmony. In our neighborhood, families put out Halloween candy on tables in driveways in individually wrapped gift bags, making sure that children could safely celebrate the holiday. OPO is participating in a daily food drive for those who cannot afford it, so those in need will have food for the holidays. After Thanksgiving, we will collect jackets, blankets, and gloves to be distributed in December so the homeless will not face the elements unprotected. OPO has always taken action on behalf of those who cannot take care of themselves after being injured in an accident. In these difficult times, many people cannot take care of themselves for reasons beyond their control. OPO will help provide for those in need.
OPO has been in this community for 43 years. We are so thankful for you. We are here for you if you need us. Please call 661-799-3899 or contact us at info@owenpatterson.com.
