Fight On For Justice
Owen, Patterson & Owen is not “big law.” But we do big things for our clients. Our clients, being able to reach us on the phone, day or night, knowing they can speak with their attorney and not be just a number–that is a big thing.
For our USC clients, women who were abused and violated in a very vulnerable setting—their gynecologist’s office—they knew they could trust us with the horrible details of what happened to them. These women knew they could reveal the details of what occurred, the emotional pain of their violation, and the extent of its aftermath. In OPO, they found an advocate, a voice, and a champion. These clients, along with the other plaintiffs, will share in the gross payout by USC of $1 billion.
All of the plaintiffs in this case were students at USC and were treated by Dr. George Tyndall at the student health center. They were a part of the Trojan family. From freshman orientation through the commencement ceremony, that Trojan pride is everywhere. At pre-Covid football games, the school spirit is infectious. My son is a Trojan. I must admit that “Fight On” has been on the tip of my tongue several times while remembering at the last minute that to say those words would be treason to my Bruin heritage. In 2018, thousands of women learned that the “creepy” gynecologist that they trusted because he was a part of USC was being investigated for criminal acts and that USC had received reports for years of his wrongdoing. This was a betrayal to not only these women but to thousands who were a part of this red and gold family.
USC is big. Sometimes, size can make you feel invincible. USC may have felt that way. If you need us, we are here for you. Call us at 661.799.3899 or email us at info@owenpatterson.com.
