There’s Something for Everybody at Eighth & Rail
In 2004, Louise Castaldo and Kerry Malony, purchased The Rendezvous, a little biker bar off the corner of Eighth and Railroad Avenue that has so much history in the Santa Clarita Valley. “It is said that this location has the longest running liquor license, it has been around since the 1800s when it was Derek’s Saloon during the Gold Rush days,” stated Louise. Saloon, biker bar, club, and now this business has become a go-to hangout for the Santa Clarita residents for the past seven years and is now known as Eighth & Rail. “At first it was the biker bar then we turned it into The Vue which was really fun until it wasn’t and we had to rebrand, we’ve always wanted a place where people can come hang out and have a good time in a safe and secure environment and with Eighth & Rail we are doing just that,” added Louise.
At Eighth & Rail you can do it all: enjoy hand-crafted cocktails and food, play games like giant Jenga or shuffleboard and listen to songs off the juke box; in this establishment there is always something for everyone. When Eighth & Rail rebranded, Louise and Kerry added a fresh look and restructured the bar menu while adding artisan food items to provide a more upscale-casual feel. “It was a complete make over. We wanted to match the improvements that were coming to downtown, despite the challenges we were able to do it and keep improving it for the better and nothing makes me more happier than seeing the community come out and enjoy themselves in our bar, from people in their 60s and 70s coming to play shuffleboard or the young people in here playing Jenga, it is just really nice to have a place that has something or everyone,” Louise continued.
