Congratulations Santa Clarita Heat!
For the Santa Clarita Heat team members, there’s no better time of year than springtime – it’s the time for getting together to practice and play ball, though the team’s assistant coach, Omar Sahagun, might tell you that the kids are ready for that year round.
SC Heat is a youth division baseball team here in the valley, comprised of 12-year-old youth players who train to compete in events and tournaments against other teams from around the world every season.
This year, however, is a particularly important and exciting year for SC Heat – this year, the team brought home a championship win after beating out all other 12U teams at Cooperstown, an international tournament that brings together 12-year-old baseball players from all across the world to compete for the championship title.
The team traveled to Cooperstown, New York this past month to prepare for the tournament. SC Heat won 10 games and lost zero – in the end, they came out on top, winning against every other 12U team they faced during the tournament.
“This has been an amazing experience for all of us, and it will serve as an inspiration to our kids in Santa Clarita,” shares Omar.
