Get Back on Track at College of the Canyons in the Fall!
As the beginning of the fall semester approaches, we at College of the Canyons are ready and eager to welcome our students back on campus.
With one-third of our classes being offered in person during the upcoming fall 2021 semester, we are offering students and community members the opportunity to get back on track toward earning a degree or preparing for a change in careers.
Here’s how:
Parking will be free at both our campuses during the fall 2021 semester.
Eligible students can apply for $1,500 COVID emergency grants.
In preparation for the college’s expansion of on-campus instruction and activities, we will be hiring student workers at both of our campuses. Positions will include job developers, in-class tutors, instructional aides, and Zoom facilitators, to name a few.
Students can attend their online classes at our designated “Zoom Zones,” which are individual work stations for quiet study.
Students and community members can choose from nearly 2000 sections in a wide range of academic subjects and career education disciplines! There is something for everyone.
To help accommodate the needs and preferences of students, COC will continue to offer classes in a variety of online hybrid formats.
The majority of fall 2021 classes will be courses needed by our students to either graduate, transfer to a four-year school or complete certification that will lead to employment.
In addition, high school juniors and seniors can take advantage of fall classes to earn college and high school credit while taking classes at COC with waived enrollment fees.
If you are considering taking classes but haven’t registered yet, the college will be hosting a week long Fall Rush event from August 2-6. Student service offices like Admission and Records and Financial Aid will have staff on hand to help you through the entire express registration process in person.
Fall Rush week is happening on the Valencia campus (Canyons Hall) 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. If you can’t attend in person, staff will also be available via Zoom drop in. You can find the drop in link and more information at www.canyons.edu/outreach.
An exciting new addition to the fall semester is the launch of a first-of-its kind Law Enforcement Technology program! The first such program in the nation, the program is focused on the emerging trends and potential applications for new technologies in criminal investigations and other law enforcement operations.
The series of eight online courses allows students from anywhere in the world the opportunity to earn an associate degree and/or a professional certificate in this emerging field of law enforcement. Students will learn about how technology impacts law enforcement, the many legal issues associated with technological uses, ethical boundaries considerations, along with operational and investigative techniques.
It’s not too late to register for a class during the fall 2021 semester. Classes start on August 23!
