Opportunities For Learning Lets Students Catch Up with Extra Support
For students who are struggling with the unintended, but well-documented effects of remote learning – namely academic disengagement and learning gaps – there is an option to catch up with extra support at Opportunities For Learning (OFL), a free public charter high school serving the Santa Clarita and High Desert region. In addition to having free tutoring, OFL has credentialed teachers who will work with students to identify their learning gaps and create a customized learning plan that meets their educational needs.
The school’s success in reconnecting students with their education stems from its personalized blended learning model and small class sizes. The blended learning model features flexible schedules, customized learning plans, experiential travels, and the ability to safely and easily transition from remote to in-person learning. With its low student-to-teacher ratio, students have the attention they need to regain their confidence in school.
Additionally, all OFL campuses are inclusive safe spaces where teachers, counselors, and staff are committed to fostering an environment that is productive and supportive to students’ social, emotional, and academic success. Through OFL’s partnership with WIOA and its leadership, college-readiness, and sports groups, students are afforded with opportunities where they can re-engage with their communities and gain insight about college and career paths.
Opportunities For Learning is a network of free public charter high schools in Southern California with three locations in Canyon Country, Ridgecrest, and Santa Clarita. If students are behind on credits, disconnected from school, want to graduate early, need to tend to responsibilities outside of school, or simply desire a non-traditional learning environment, OFL can help in making their high school graduation goals into an attainable reality.
Students grades 7-12 are eligible to enroll for the 21/22 school year. For information and assistance, please contact Jessica Wade, OFL’s Enrollment Specialist, at 661-233-1403.
