Be Careful!
Santa Clarita was and is one of the safest cities in the United States. It is where I chose to raise my children more than three decades ago, and I haven’t left. I love the sense of community, the unofficial neighborhood watch that exists in nearly every area, and that my kids could ride their bikes in our cul-de-sac every day without fear.
As a personal injury attorney, how “safe” a city ranks in the surveys does not protect you from the dangers that could lurk around every corner. At Owen, Patterson & Owen, we are experts in handling personal injury cases, handling over 10,000 cases and recovering over $1 billion with cases filed, settled, or tried to jury verdict.
The danger could be in the form of a tree that was not adequately pruned and a branch fell causing an injury. It could be that the same tree’s roots were allowed to crack the sidewalk, and you didn’t see that crevice before you fell. It could be that the neighborhood swimming pool doesn’t have a sufficient lock on the gate, allowing children to have access without supervision. It could be the carnival that is set up every year that may have obsolete operational parts. It could be that driver who incorrectly judged his level of intoxication. The possibility of injury is everywhere.
My children would tell you that they were not allowed to go on those carnival rides when they were young. They are never to get into the car with someone who had been drinking. They have known how to swim since they were babies. My neighbors, all with kids around the same age as mine, use to call me the “safety police.” That didn’t mean that my children never got hurt. It is impossible to foresee every possible danger. The only solution would be to never leave the house. And even then, there may still be the possibility of injury.
We should be able to exercise reasonable care in terms of our safety and avoid disaster. When injury occurs despite your best efforts, you cannot handle it alone. If you need us, we are always here for you. Call us at 888-OPO-WINS or email us at info@opolaw.com.
