Looking to Transfer to a Four-Year School? Start your journey at College of the Canyons!

And what makes California community colleges so special?
For starters, unlike other U.S. community colleges, California community colleges are open to everyone! Anyone in the community can have access to higher education or workforce training thanks to our affordable enrollment fees of just $46 per unit.
So, whether you are looking to gain workforce training to become more competitive at your job or planning to transfer to a four-year college, we are here to help you reach your goals.
Not only do we offer 96 associate degrees and 148 certificates, we also offer 31 Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) programs in various subjects.
Unlike AA or AS degrees, ADTs provide students with guaranteed admission to a CSU—and select private colleges—if they earn an associate in arts transfer (AA-T) or associate in science transfer (AS-T) degree and meet the CSU minimum eligibility requirements.
Over the past five years, the number of students earning ADT degrees increased by 165 percent!
As a leader in transfer rates, COC has completely restructured our processes to reduce transfer-level completion in English and Math by two semesters.
The percentage of new students who completed transfer-level courses in English and Math during their first semester nearly tripled from 14% to 48% (2017 to 2019).
The college also saw a significant increase in the percentage of students completing transfer-level Math and English in their first year.
In English and Math, respectively, we saw an increase from 38% to 71% (2017 to 2019) and from 14% to 57% (2016 to 2019).
Why is this noteworthy? Completing lower division Math and English courses is often a barrier for many students.
Statewide, researchers have found that students spend as much as 2.5 semesters—or the equivalent of almost one and a half years—to complete remedial class sequences, which not only delays enrollment in upper division college courses, but also delays their plans to transfer.
By helping them get over this hurdle in their first year, they are more likely to transfer to a four-year university and achieve their educational goals.
We are proud of the strides we have made and continue working hard toward creating new pathways for student success.
