Selina Thomas…. Looking Forward to 2022

by | Dec 30, 2021 | Community

2022 will be a year of great expectations for Selina Thomas and not for the reasons that most people would think. With continued aspirations for an opportunity to serve on the Santa Clarita City Council, for her that is just one aspect of the year that she is looking forward to.
“Like most people I look forward to the opportunity to see the small business community recover. That for me would be a sign that our community is coming back. There are small businesses that are still climbing out of the gaping hole that Covid left. My hope for 2022 is to continue my work in this area and to appeal to big businesses to consider our community as the ideal place to do business. I can only make that appeal by sharing my journey and my steps to becoming successful in business here first.”
Recently certified as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) after a rigorous vetting process, Ms. Thomas worked to collaborate with the SCV Chamber of Commerce to encourage other minority business owners to look towards becoming members and to see the value of being in a collaborative business community.
“It is so important to see the business community reflect the diversity of those that live here. As an advocate for all businesses I see first hand as an MBE the impact of being given fair opportunities. My growth and ability to franchise and scale is directly correlated to being a member of VIA, the Chamber of Commerce in SCV & Los Angeles. All of those years of building and doing good business in a small town is paying off.”
Ms. Thomas also reflects on the resilience of her daughters who endured the tragedy at Saugus and being shuttered at home for almost a year and a half. All while maintaining 4.0 gpa’s and their athletics. “I felt a great responsibility to be positive voice in a very difficult time not only for my girls but for the many small businesses that relied on my daily video messages. I feel the rewards for that hard work in the growth of my company 6 Degrees HR Consulting. Being called upon as an industry expert by the Business Alliance at College of the Canyons and staple companies like Allbright Painting and Scorpion tells me I am on the right track.”
“The opportunity to be a guest correspondent for the SCV Signal as SCV’s HR Guru has also positioned me to speak to many people in our community. As I did a rewind on all of the shows I did this past year I was truly struck by the amazing people that make up this awesome town. With a new segment starting in January named The Signal on the Street with Selina, I will really be able to connect with more people in person.”
“I can’t wait to see what 2022 brings. I look forward to hitting the streets of Santa Clarita, meeting more people and to share the stories of recovery and hope for the new year!”
