What to Expect When Bringing Your Patient to VLVH
Upon arrival we ask that our clients call to check in and remain in their vehicle until our staff comes out and assists them into the exam room. The staff will get a weight and temperature on the patient and then the doctor will come in and do a thorough exam on the patient while discussing any issues or symptoms. The doctor would then advise of treatment recommendations of which the staff would provide an estimate for and upon approval, the patient would be taken to the treatment area if treatment or diagnostics were necessary. The client would then pay for the services and receive any medications that might be prescribed. Once treatment is completed the patient would then be returned to their owners.
Although this is a very routine appointment, there are times when the appointment goes differently for various reasons, such as if diagnostics are warranted like lab work and x-rays, or if any form of sedation is necessary, we may advise the owner that we need to keep the patient and will call them when the patient is ready to go. There are also occasions where we are unable to provide necessary treatments or procedures such as various orthopedic issues or severe internal conditions that we may find it necessary to refer the patient to a specialist who has significantly more experience in those areas and can provide more advanced treatments or procedures that would provide the best outcome for the patient. Lastly, there are times when an appointment takes a bit longer than expected and the next appointment may be seen a bit late, while this is rare and we strive to keep our appointment on time, unforeseen situations do come up and we ask our clients to please be patient as we understand everyone’s time and furry friends are important and we may need a little extra time to ensure the best care for all of our patients.
