We Are All in this Together
I went to visit my sister in Long Beach, where she greeted me with a huge smile and a big number of boxes and bags in her foyer. I looked down at the pile, then at her. My sister happily explained, “I’ve discovered Marie Kondo and I have become a fan of ‘The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up!’ I’ve reclaimed my linen closet, my hall closet and downsized a whole clothes closet!”
Why would I share this in Santa Clarita Magazine? I mean good for her, but what’s the connection? I’ll tell you. It meant a huge donation for Assistance League(R) Santa Clarita Resale Store. We filled up my SUV three times! There were 600 DVDs, over 200 hardback books, six bags of well known designer label clothing and 13 designer purses, including such labels as Valentino, Versace and Marc Jacobs. Woo-hoo for us!
Where is the magic in all this? When I delivered these treasures to our store, I was again greeted with huge smiles. Our dedicated members sorted through the items, priced them and sent them out to the floor. The benefit? Our loyal customers purchased items at a fraction of their retail price, putting a huge smile on their face. They knew that not only did they get a great deal, but that the proceeds benefit our philanthropic programs which support our community.
Feel good moments for everyone involved! My story is only one example of the many donations that come to our resale store. I invite you to discover and participate in the Marie Kondo Magic!
