Meet the Candidate Rebecca Hindman Running for William S. Hart District Board Area 5
WHO AM I?
I hold a bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies that gives me the understanding of people and communities and a minor in Business gives me experience in HR, budgets, training, and compliance.
WHAT INSPIRES ME?
I myself struggled in school. In high school I was lucky and had a few teachers that made me feel recognized, supported and was given the tools to grow and find success. It finally made me feel like I was part of a community. I belonged.
GIVING BACK
It is now my turn to give back, like Shel Silverstein’s The Giving Tree, to allow for creativity and inclusion so that the next generation feels supported, understood. So that they have the right tools to find their own success.
THE PLAN
We need to build a better future for our kids in the Hart District by investing in teachers and staff to prepare students to compete in the global economy. I believe our board should represent the practical needs of our community, our schools, and our children.
By supporting our teachers and staff, we can then create learning programs that allow our students to grow in a safe environment that includes everyone and generates ongoing opportunities. In turn this brings the community back to our campuses.
EDUCATION IS COMMUNITY
Some think that education should be viewed in terms of profitability, I view it as a long term infrastructure investment that makes the WHOLE community profitable.
We can bring the community back into our campuses when the puzzle pieces of safety, inclusion, and opportunity come together.
