Monthly Message City Manager Ken Striplin Looking Forward to Another Successful Year in Santa Clarita
Happy New Year! With the turning of the calendar our residents have new projects, programs and events to look forward to in 2023.
This month our City Council will cut the ribbon and welcome the community to the new inclusive play area at West Creek Park. This is the second inclusive play area in the City, the other one is located at Canyon Country Park. People of all abilities will enjoy the new playground offering a unique twist on basketball, a thrilling zip line, engaging swings and a fitness area.
Later this year the Central Park buildout project will be complete. This project will bring four new, and much-needed fields to the park. Additional parking will also be added, along with enhancements to the dog park and an exercise staircase.
Getting around town and the region will get easier with the opening of the Vista Canyon Multi-modal Center. The Center will include a new Metrolink Station, a Bus Transfer Station, additional parking and trails for cyclists and pedestrians. The Metrolink Station will be the fourth in Santa Clarita, offering enhanced and convenient services for residents.
Santa Clarita is known for hosting world class events and 2023 will be no exception. We will kick off the year with Martin Luther King Jr. Day Unity Walk at Central Park on Monday, January 16. Then in the spring you can look forward to the return of the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival, Senses block parties in Old Town Newhall and the Celebrate Event series at the Canyon Country Community Center.
Make your new years resolution to enjoy all your City has to offer. I wish you and your loved ones a happy and healthy 2023.
