Building the Dimensions of Your Life
It is said that the three dimensions in our lives that each of us control individually are: the mind, the body, and the more secretive inner realm where we each choose our own path for learning and growing. Building these three dimensions results in our exuberance for living.
As we grow, our confidence builds. We choose to take on challenges that increase our level of self-assurance, elevate our self-reliance, and spread our energy and belief in ourselves to others everywhere we go. The more we engage in our work and projects, the more “informed” our overall performance becomes. As we fully develop these dimensions we are seen as “stars”, becoming known by many in our chosen role at work, in volunteering, in family life, etc. As the “purpose” in our lives is revealed to each of us, our energy spills over to others around us, with the potential for positively impacting their outer and inner realms, as well.
The question for many, however, is what exactly are the key skills that enable us to achieve such a level of performance and confidence to fulfill the roles that contribute to our communities of interest, work, and family? Overcoming potential shyness and taking active roles is primarily achieved by building our ability to communicate – to speak, listen, ask questions, respond to questions, and overall manage the meaningful exchange of ideas. The need for these skills is the reason a volunteer educational organization called Toastmasters was formed years ago. Easy lessons have been developed and are now available online at toastmasters.org for our members to read on their own time. Then, during 2-hour group Chapter meetings twice a month members practice what they learned: delivering prepared speeches generally 5 to 7 minutes in length, evaluating other member’s speeches, impromptu speaking, and performing roles like Toastmaster, Evaluator, Timer, etc.
Our local chapter is called the “Outliers”. Our membership is diverse, and we offer you a comfortable way to practice in-person what you learn online. We laugh together, we listen to each other, we clap, and we support our members to bring success within reach of everyone, no matter the level of experience or confidence. The dimensions of your life will grow dynamically. Mentoring is available. Guests of all backgrounds are welcome to check out one of our Toastmasters meetings on Zoom.
