Stay Safe on The Road with Preventative Maintenance
Springtime is here and seasonable car maintenance will do more than keep your car running smoothly it will save you money because you will be improving your car’s trade-in value, getting the utmost out of mileage and preventing costly repairs in the near future! When you service your vehicle on a regular basis and maintain a maintenance schedule then you are playing a huge role in preventive maintenance and in staying safe on the road. The National High-way Traffic Safety Administration says that about one in eight crashes can be attributed to mechanical defects due to neglected car maintenance. That is a sad statement to make but if you keep your car serviced and maintained on a regular basis then the statistics are in your favor.
With springtime here let’s look at what you can do to avoid costly repairs and to guarantee your safety going into a new season.
Start with an oil and filter change, coolant service and a safety check. Typically, coolant should be changed every two years but in many new vehicles it may last up to about five years. It’s a good idea to have an emergency kit in your car. As a Californian, this is a necessity due to earthquakes! Make sure you have in your kit a pair of gloves, shoes for walking, blankets, flares, flashlight and water! It doesn’t hurt to have a few high energy bars or snacks in your glove box too!
Just remember there is really no reason to put off or avoid getting your car serviced, why wait? Your car will be more reliable if taken care of in the Spring and Summer months and your family safety ensured.
