Toastmasters – Local “Outliers” Chapter Invites Guests and New Members A Season for Opportunity
The Toastmasters Outliers Chapter sends greetings and cheer to all Santa Clarita Magazine readers for the November season of friend and family get-togethers. The charming spell of the holiday season pulls us in, yet we also experience more-than-the-usual tension…uh, I mean opportunity…to resolve communication challenges of past family disagreements, recent decisions, and, yes, reaction to hair color changes (“really?…bright purple, Walker?”). Then there’s the question of what to say when glasses are held high for a toast, and people look to you to speak words of wisdom. For this dilemma here’s wording from this Toastmaster to you for that toast:
Here’s to the best in each of us to build the skills to overcome whatever challenges 2024 may deliver to us!
At Outliers we suggest an easy answer to the question of how to develop some of those needed skills to be built is through the opportunities that Toastmasters provides. Our lessons teach how to deliver the messaging that informs and promises the support of others, assure a surge in your confidence to convey the warmth of the season’s meaning, encourage meaningful interactions, and will have you looking forward to accomplishing the possibilities of 2024. Brief on-line lessons, developed over Toastmasters’ 95 years of existence, teach all aspects of communication – wordsmithing, storytelling, delivery, evaluation, and meeting management. These are the skills that have the potential to raise your self-assurance and skyrocket your impact on others.
Join us in a meeting to see how we come together to practice meeting role assignments, group participation, and speech delivery. This collaboration is the wrap-around envelop that cinches our level of confidence. We welcome you to see how we will bring you the support, space to practice, reinforcement of what to keep doing, and ideas on what to change and how.
Our local chapter is called the Outliers. We are a diverse group that meets via Zoom video calls 6:30pm to 8:00pmPT the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month, with quarterly hybrid meetings in Santa Clarita. Individual mentoring is available. To attend a meeting as our guest, contact our Founder and VP of Education, Tom Iland. Note that Tom is one of less than 100 Accredited Speakers in the world, as well as being a Certified Human Potential Coach and a published author. Tom is reached on 661-313-3323 or tom@thomasiland.com.
