A Sage With Age
Did you know that people over 70 handle life demands and stress better than younger people? Studies have shown that 38% of those in their 40s report “Highly stressed”,18% in those in the 60s and only 13% of those in their 70s. It’s true that our body dwindles physically as our concentration, attention and decision making is not optimal anymore. But we’re not our bodies. Our strength comes from our clarity of the big picture. Each life experience is a steppingstone in our growth. Our wisdom and knowledge we’ve accumulated over the years are now, our secret weapon.
By now we know that our inner strength and self-love are what we need, not seeking them elsewhere. We choose to forgive our past mistakes and accept ourselves with no judgement. To heal the wounds of the past we review and re-frame to change the narrative of our story, freeing us to enjoy the moment and live life to the fullest. I revitalize myself by connecting to my authentic self. I feel gratitude for what I have in my life and remind myself of my success and accomplishments to feel empowered.
I embrace proactive living by setting daily intentions and goals, focusing on healthy eating habits, sufficient sleep, exercise, positive thinking, and mindfulness. For me conscious aging is also a decision to live more peaceful life, enjoying personal time doing activities I love, and connecting to others on a soulful level. I surround myself with people who uplift me. In fact, I like spending time with people over 70 to absorb their wisdom and with kids to reconnect with joy.
Robert Byrne said:” The purpose of life is a life with a purpose”. Inspired by that wisdom I advocate for volunteering, doing good, committing to constant self-improvement, creative expression through writing and painting, gardening, cooking, dancing, traveling and more. Always love yourself at any age and any stage. Now is the time to live the life you have imagined.
