Learn-to-Swim Tips – Academy Swim Club
All children learn to swim at a different pace. Some catch on quickly, others take more time and coercing. No matter the approach, here are some tips for teaching kids to swim:
Start Early: Introduce your child to water as early as possible, ideally during infancy through Baby Swim classes, to establish a foundation for lifelong water safety. This is also a great opportunity for quality bonding time with your infant/baby under 3 years old.
Enroll in Swim Lessons: Sign your child up for age-appropriate swim lessons taught by certified instructors who are properly trained. Formal swim lessons alone can reduce the risk of drowning by 88%!
Be Patient & Practice: Be patient and supportive during the learning process, providing encouragement and praise for each milestone achieved. Learning to swim can be a slow process for many, but the investment is well worth it. The more practice time you can squeeze in, the quicker you will see results.
Emphasize Water Safety: Teach your child essential water safety rules, such as never swimming alone, staying within designated swim areas, and understanding the dangers of deep water.
Make It Fun: Keep swimming sessions enjoyable by incorporating games, toys, and playful activities to make learning to swim a positive experience. Children retain and learn skills at a much more accelerated pace through Play With Purpose.
