Whispers of the Past Wound Up in Wood Award-Winning Playwright Braddon Mendelson Presents “Provenance”
Prepare for an enthralling journey through the ages as award-winning playwright Braddon Mendelson unveils his latest masterpiece, “Provenance” (ProvenanceThePlay.com). Co-produced by Olive Branch Theatricals and Noisivision Studios, this intriguing play brings to life centuries-old tales imbued in the essence of a Louis XV handcrafted table, tracing its chain of custody across the ages and revealing profound connections to those whose paths it crossed.
When two roommates discover the identity of the artisan who crafted an 18th-century French table de jeux (game table), audiences are transported back in time to experience the stories of those who possessed it. From ordinary citizens to the rich and powerful, from presidents to prime ministers, their very essences coalesce into this beautiful objet d’art. As the audience weaves through these tales, the mysterious cabinetmaker ponders the fate of his creation, wondering if its resilience and beauty will stand the test of time.
With Mendelson’s trademark blend of history and humor, “Provenance” offers a thought-provoking exploration of the human connection we have to the things we possess. Written and directed by Mendelson, “Provenance” promises an unforgettable theatrical experience.
Santa Clarita audiences eagerly anticipate Mendelson’s return following the success of his January 2023 production, “Rembrandt Perfected” (RembrandtPerfected.com), a historical farce about Louis Daguerre and Samuel Morse that played to sold-out crowds at The MAIN in Newhall, California.
Experience upcoming performances of “Provenance” at Curtain Call Performing Arts (20655 Soledad Canyon, Santa Clarita, CA 91351) on Fridays, September 13 and 20 at 8pm, Saturdays, September 14 and 21 at 2pm and 8pm, and Sundays, September 15 and 22 at 2pm.
