Love Language – Law Offices of Steven B. Chroman, P.C.
The new year began just a short month ago, and some have made the difficult decision to move on from their partners, while others may still be contemplating that very difficult determination. Understanding love is no easy task, and since the release of Chapman’s, “The 5 Love Languages,” people from all over have been trying to understand their own love language. They wonder if it is giving words of affirmation, acts of service, gifts, quality time, or physical touch. Once people realize how they show their love, they feel it naturally fall into place when expressing themselves.
However, how one shows love isn’t always how one wants to receive love. When two people’s ideas of how to show love clash, they find themselves in a frustrating cycle. If your partner only has one way of showing their love language and they cannot seem to hear you when you repeatedly tell them what you need, you begin to contemplate the nature of the relationship and if you’re in the right place.
Personally, I show my love with acts of service or gifts, however, it took me quite a while to understand that how I want to receive love is completely different than how I show it. I need quality time. When people use their time for me, I feel an appreciation that runs deep. Time is not something I spend thoughtlessly and that goes for all my relationships. Time is precious and using it with those that matter and moving on from those that no longer fit that description is a difficult but valuable decision.
