Santa Clarita Ballet Presents The Sleeping Beauty
Santa Clarita Ballet Company will be presenting an authentic staging of one of the classical repertoire’s most famous ballets, The Sleeping Beauty, featuring Santa Clarita Ballet’s own homegrown talent and professional guest artists from South Carolina Ballet, the American tour of Frozen and Les Ballet Trockadero. Santa Clarita Ballet first mounted the production in 2015.
Set to Tchaikovsky’s luscious score, this beloved fairy tale tells the story of Princess Aurora who falls into a deep sleep for a hundred years after pricking her finger. Only a kiss by a handsome prince can awaken her and undo the curse placed upon her by the evil fairy, Carabosse.
Santa Clarita Ballet Company member, Faith Freund will be dancing the part of Aurora, the Sleeping Beauty. Faith began her ballet training at the age of 3 at the Santa Clarita Ballet Academy and as of March has completed all her Royal Academy of Dance exams. Faith has danced many principal roles with SCB, most notably the roles of Marie, the Snow Queen and the Sugar Plum Fairy from The Nutcracker. She is currently a Junior at Village Christian School. Last summer she attended the Boston Ballet’s Summer Program and plans to return this summer.
Audience favorite, Raydel Caceres will reprise his role as Prince Desiré, the handsome prince who awakens Aurora from her long slumber. Raydel has been touring with the renowned Les Ballet Trockadero de Monte Carlo, performing in the world’s most illustrious theaters and opera houses across Europe, South America and Asia. This is Raydel’s 15th year guesting with the Santa Clarita Ballet.
Annie Han will dance the role of the Lilac Fairy who saves Aurora from death by weakening Carabosse’s spell. Annie was last seen as Marie in Santa Clarita Ballet’s Nutcracker in 2024.
Analise Baker, a junior at Bishop Alemany High School will dance the role of the evil fairy, Carabosse. In addition to performing such memorable roles as an Arabian and the Snow Queen from Nutcracker, and the Queen of the Crows in last summer’s Wizard of Oz, Analise performed the Dying Swan with the Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra at the Performing Arts Center last December.
