Kick Off Your Holiday Season – Santa Clarita Symphony Orchestra
Santa Clarita Symphony Orchestra invites you to celebrate the magic of winter with “Sounds of the Season,” a concert of warmth, wonder, and tradition on December 7 at Canyon High School Performing Arts Center.
As Ashley Turner, Executive Director, explains, this year’s holiday concert has something for everyone. “This year’s performance is driven by a spectacular combination of classic and contemporary sound, featuring the full power of the orchestra blended with exciting instruments like electric guitar, bass, harp, and saxophones. Prepare for an unforgettable family experience that includes festive holiday trimmings, a lively sing-along, and other activities that are guaranteed to fill the whole family with cheer.”
Conductor Alex Arellano shares what makes this concert special. “The program features a spirited collection of music, from the Jewish tradition in Klezmer 101 to works both personal and joyous that honor the richness of cultural celebration. We’re so excited to share this family-friendly program that will feature special guests from within the orchestra and from around the Santa Clarita area!”
This year’s concert includes a playful rendition of You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch. Chadwick’s poignant Noël, written for his son, offers an intimate reflection on love and remembrance amid the holidays. The energy intensifies with Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s Mad Russian’s Christmas, a modern favorite known for its electrifying fusion of rock and orchestral sound. A Jingle Bells sing-along and adaptation of Silent Night, orchestrated for this special concert, are sure to lift spirits. Completing the program are enchanting excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s The Snow Maiden, evoking the crystalline beauty and drama of the season.
