Your Story is My Story Helping a Friend Prepare For Her Next Move – Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices
Every home tells a story, and some of the most meaningful ones begin with friendship. I recently had the privilege of helping a dear friend prepare her home for sale as she steps into an exciting new chapter. Having known each other for years and shared many moments volunteering in the Santa Clarita Valley, this journey has been especially meaningful.
We started with a walkthrough of her home, creating a thoughtful plan to enhance its value without overspending. Simple updates made a big impact, including new flooring, fresh paint in key areas, updated baseboards, and small repairs that helped the home feel refreshed and move-in ready. These improvements were designed to attract more buyers, increase showings, and ultimately lead to a stronger sales price.
Decluttering and staging were just as important. We rearranged furniture to create a more open, inviting feel and removed personal photos so buyers could envision their own lives in the space. First impressions matter, and creating a clean, welcoming environment is key to making a home stand out.
Because the property features an unusually large and beautiful yard, we made the strategic decision to wait until spring to list. With the garden in full bloom, the home will truly shine, and professional photography will capture its best features, drawing buyers in from the very first glance online.
To simplify her move, my friend has partnered with an estate sale company to handle the items she will not be taking. It is a seamless and often profitable solution that reduces stress during an already emotional time.
Now, as we prepare to bring the home to market, I am excited to implement a comprehensive marketing strategy to ensure it receives maximum exposure. This is what I love most about real estate, helping people through important life transitions and being part of their next beginning.
Stay tuned as this story continues in next month’s SCV May issue.
