Lessons In The Dirt And Rain
Have you ever felt like somebody misused or abused your friendship? Took advantage of you or lied to you? Treated you poorly or betrayed you? Treated you like dirt? One of my favorite songs is “Trouble Don’t Last Always” by Timothy Wright in 1991. The song says, “I’m so glad trouble don’t last always.” It has also been said, “It won’t rain always.” Let’s take a deeper look at that phrase. It’s clearly used as a metaphor. The rain represents the sad times in life, depression or the disappointment and difficulty that life can sometimes bring. Like the rain, it comes and goes. Sometimes it rains long and hard. Yet, we need that rain for our water supply and to help things grow. Without rain, we would perish, plants, flowers and food would not be grown. Life can be the same. Without the setbacks, disappointments, and experiences (good or bad) being that rain in our life, we wouldn’t fully see nor learn what’s not good for us. Some people have learned through seeing or hearing of other people’s mistakes. Some people need to go through it to understand it. For example, that person or people that did you dirty supplies the dirt, the experiences are the seeds, and the rain helps you to grow. We have all been through something and that is not the tragedy. The tragedy is to go through life and not learn from your experiences…holding onto hurt that turns to hate. Continuing to allow the dirt to bury you instead of using it towards being the lesson in life to your advantage. Now that would be the true tragedy. April is gone and gave off lots of showers. Let’s flourish in the month of May, as fresh flowers…recognizing the lessons in the dirt and rain!
