Canyon Theatre Guild Presents Two Great New Shows This June!
Canyon Theatre Guild is playing the Broadway Hit, The SpongeBob Musical, and Pulitzer Prize winning classic, Driving Miss Daisy, through the end of June. You don’t want to miss out on this “fun for the whole family” musical spectacular and timeless classic!
The Broadway Hit, The SpongeBob Musical, is a “fun for the whole family” hit musical. Plunge into this stunning all-singing, all-dancing, dynamic stage show. When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble home, SpongeBob and his friends must come together to save the fate of their undersea world. With lives hanging in the balance and all hope lost, a most unexpected hero rises up. The power of optimism really can save the world.
The SpongeBob Musical director Ingrid Boydston said of the show, “It’s 100% family friendly. Everyone, especially those who loved the show as a kid (when it premiered 25 years ago!) to those who now share the fun with their own kids and even grandkids, will have a blast together. The cast is chock full of talent that will leave you breathless. The special effects and costumes are sure to make you smile. There’s even a simple but profound message. Even when it feels like the world is about to explode, we can each do our bit to make every day the best day ever!”
The Pulitzer Prize winning classic, Driving Miss Daisy, explores the unlikely friendship between a rich, sharp-tongued Jewish widow of 72 (Daisy) and her African American chauffeur (Hoke) in the Deep South just prior to the start of the civil rights movement. Hoke is immediately treated with disdain by Miss Daisy. Unimpressed by his employer’s patronizing tone and what he believes is her latent prejudice, the two nonetheless slowly start to learn each others’ truths and build a relationship that ends up lasting 25 years. Despite their many differences, the two grow closer. Slowly and steadily, the dignified and good-natured Hoke breaks down the stern defenses of Daisy as she teaches him to read and write.
Driving Miss Daisy director TimBen Boydston said of the show, “This is an amazing cast. They will take you back in time and live 25 years in about 90 minutes. The Pulitzer Prize winning script has comedy, drama, and the triumph of light over darkness. You will not want to miss this show.”
The SpongeBob Musical and Driving Miss Daisy will run through the end of June. Tickets for The SpongeBob Musical are $24 for Adults, $20 for Seniors (62+), and $15 for Students.
