How to Keep Your New Year Resolutions in 2023
As we begin a new year, New Year resolutions are at the front of mind, but eventually, the enthusiasm and anticipation will wane, and you’re left with two choices—keep the momentum going or slowly fall back into your old ways.
The difference between success and failure is commitment. How do you stay committed to your resolutions in 2023? Here are a few tips.
First, “Have a Plan.” Once you know what you want to accomplish in the New Year, create a plan of action. Take a moment to think about your fitness resolutions and write down what you’ll need to do to succeed. Include actionable steps to get you to your end goal. Schedule your workout sessions. Plan what healthy meals you want to cook and when you’ll eat them.
Second, “Be Realistic. Results do not happen overnight – it takes weeks, even months, to start seeing progress when you start working out. So, be realistic when setting goals and expectations. Whether you want to lose weight or build strength, it will take time. Follow a timeline that makes sense for what you want to accomplish.
Third, “Start with Micro Goals.” Micro goals are small, manageable tasks that take less time to accomplish. For example, set the micro goal of working out three times per week.
Fourth, “Find a Punch Partner.” Nothing is better than punching it out with your bestie at 9Round! A workout buddy will keep you accountable and it makes working out at the studio even more fun.
Finally, “Practice Self-Discipline.“ There will be a day when you don’t feel like working out or eating healthy. That’s okay. Try to stick to your workout schedule and nutrition program. Get back on the wagon the next day and start working towards your goals again. Failure only happens if you give up.
