In business success or failure depends on how well you do against your competition.  I know, you are thinking you’re not in competition with others.  Your only job is to provide the customer with what they want.  But if that was your only job, then you would be opulently successful and probably not reading this now.  In reality you have two jobs: providing for the customer and doing better than your competition.  You are competing like it or not.  And just how do you compete?  You compete to win.  Your customer will only choose either you or one of your competitors.  Your job is to make sure the customer chooses you.

The first thing to compete successfully in anything is to prepare.  Are you in fighting shape?  Are you physically up to the rigors of competition?  Are you feasting at the table of gluttons or are you basking at the table of champions?  Are you struggling to get yourself out of bed and dreading the rigors of the day?  Or are you getting up early each morning full of energy and ready for your morning walk?  What about your mind, is it still reliving yesterday’s news?  Or is it sharp and focused on the challenges ahead?  Are you stressing about things?  Or do you slow down, focus and listen so that your mind can be clear to make winning decisions?  Before a champion enters the arena the body and mind are prepared.  Get into the habit of being prepared.

Then prepare your presentation.  Remember, it’s not about you it’s about them.  It’s not about telling.  It’s about asking questions.  Ask enough questions and your buyer will tell you their primary reason to buy.  Then show the buyer the value of your offering.  Show enough value and the buyer will ask to buy.

There are emotional issues that keep you from success.  What’s holding you back?  Why are you not succeeding?  Is your mind programmed with negative things?  Reprogram your mind.  Get rid of the negatives and replace them with positives.  Positive programming leads to thoughts that lead to feelings that lead to actions that result in success.  Get competitive advantage on your competition and win your customers’ business.
